Dreaming of James is a reference to the first edition cover art of “James and the Giant Peach”. As I was blocking in this piece, people were reminded of the illustrations Nancy Ekholm Burkert had done for the 1961 edition of Roald Dahl’s children’s book. The subject itself is another rendition of a digital art piece that presented a tinted patent art image of an unworkable press that manages only a drop of juice for a humming bird. In this version the result is only water. This to me is a perfect analogy for the “scientific” political theory popularized by the Soviet Union.
