Last Day of Show in Sarasota

Regrettably, I’ll not get to see the show closing at the Art Center Sarasota today (Friday, January 17th, 2020 for those that happen on this archive). The images online tease the viewer…if only we could look around the corner.

Work like Kathy Simon-McDonald’s piece, the Chalk artist V, looked gorgeous. I love water color— the way light passes through translucent colors to be reflected back by the paper underneath gives it an almost stained glass luminosity that can only be appreciated in person.

Pieces like Ashley Aaron’s and Jill Lindsey’s are a wonderful play on figure ground relationships, and Larry Helder’s piece looks as if the viewer could loose themselves in the beautiful detail.

However, if you are in Sarasota and have some time to view the show, the Art Center will open at 10 am and close at 4 pm. My own piece will be (I think) to the distant right of Diana De Avila’s work, 13,000 Bézier Curves.
