Faux pastel is nearly impossible to do while using Photoshop. So why bother? Well, a lack of natural light doesn’t distort the colors of a light emitting medium and I felt like doing a pastel. Okay, a little mundane, but it’s a reason for my process.
Another disadvantage to using a digital medium is how an artist can be influenced by the glow of the screen. Colors tend to be brighter and the shadows will be blacker since the narrow screen gamut forces me to push the contrasts a little more to help convey the form. Of course this fellow is a little round for that to be very important, but it is precisely why he’s such an odd color.
